Round Square is a global network of schools inspired by the educational philosophy of Kurt Hahn, who believed that education should extend beyond academic success to develop resilience, leadership and a commitment to service. At Ivanhoe, this partnership provides a powerful framework for experiential learning, character development and global citizenship.
The Round Square IDEALS underpin this work and are embedded across school life:
• Internationalism – developing global understanding and respect for cultural diversity
• Democracy – encouraging voice, leadership and responsibility
• Environmentalism – fostering sustainability and care for the world around us
• Adventure – building resilience through challenge and new experiences
• Leadership – developing confidence to lead and collaborate with others
• Service – contributing meaningfully to local and global communities
Through Round Square, students engage in conferences, service learning, leadership and outdoor education. Recent experiences have taken Ivanhoe students to Nairobi (Kenya), Dubai and Oman (UAE), and Oxford University for international debating. In 2026, Ivanhoe will proudly host students from across Australia.
At Ivanhoe, Round Square is more than a program it is a lens through which we view education, empowering students to lead with empathy, act with integrity and make a positive difference in the world.
