Student Initiative Sparks Outstanding Cambodia Fundraiser
What began as a personal challenge has become a remarkable story of community spirit, generosity and impact.
Year 11 student Indi has raised an extraordinary $5,130 in support of the upcoming Cambodia Service Trip in 2026, far exceeding the suggested fundraising target of $550 per student. Her efforts stand out not only for the total raised, but for the way they brought together family, friends and an entire rural community behind a shared purpose.
Central to Indi’s fundraising journey was her grandfather, Lindsay Schultz, a lifelong local of the small farming community of Benjeroop. Together, they planned and delivered a wonderful, heartfelt community event. Indi was also supported by family friend and fellow Benjeroop community member Natalie Troy, a local schoolteacher who contributed extensively in the lead-up and on the night of the event.
Above all, Indi has been deeply moved by the encouragement and generosity shown by the Benjeroop community. Their support demonstrates the strength of small communities and the powerful difference they can make when rallying behind a young person with purpose.
Indi’s achievement is one of the most significant individual fundraising efforts seen in the Cambodia Service Trip’s 22-year history. While in Cambodia, her contribution will be acknowledged with a plaque bearing her name on one of the program’s community projects, a lasting reminder of the impact one student, supported by many, can make.
