Ivanhoe Extend Language Arts programs involve learning opportunities and competitions that focus on language, literacy and linguistics knowledge and skills.
British Parliamentary Debating
British Parliamentary (BP) Debating is a complexified and fun variation of the regular debating format. Years 7-12 students are in teams of 2-3 people and are appointed either government or opposition. They then debate their motion according to British Parliament.

OzCLO
OzCLO is a linguistics competition that requires Year 7-12 students in groups of 4 to recognise patterns and to solve a variety of problems.

The Moth-inspired Storytelling Slam
The Moth-inspired Storytelling Slam is an individual program open to Year 7-12 students that celebrates the diversity and commonality of human experience. Students perform their stories in a live setting for their peers and families.

The What Matters? Writing Competition is inspired by Gough Whitlam’s commitment to involving you people shaping Australia’s future. The writing competition is open to Year 5-12 students and asks students What matters?
