Ivanhoe Extend STEM programs involve learning opportunities and competitions that combine the sciences, mathematics, engineering, technology and innovation.
BrainSTEM Challenge Day
The BrainSTEM Challenge Days are interschool events in which Year 8-9 students learn the design thinking process using the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and LEGO. One challenge day is run per term.

BrainSTEM Innovation Challenge (Micro-credential)
The BrainSTEM Innovation Challenge is a 12-week mentoring program for Year 9-10 students interested in a practical STEM learning experience. An industry expert or academic working in a STEM-related field acts as a mentor for groups of 4-5 students who present a solution to a real-world problem based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

La Trobe STEM Enrichment
Members of the Mathematics and Physics Department at La Trobe University run a specialised STEM Enrichment Program for Ivanhoe Grammar School University Campus students. Topics include radioactivity, enhanced mathematical problem-solving and cryptography.
