Learning with AI in Year 9
Focusing on ethical use, digital citizenship and fostering critical thinking and creative skills.
At Ivanhoe Grammar School our learning experience in Year 9 is a hybrid secondary-university experience, located at a dedicated Ivanhoe Grammar School campus, University Campus. Alongside the normal rigour applied to academic subjects, in this year students are encouraged to expand their inquiry-based thinking skills, and through immersive programs expand their perspective of learning, making direct links to their future pathways.
Students continue with the Copilot platform, which was introduced to them in Year 8. Further micro-credentialed courses are undertaken focused on ethical use, digital citizenship and fostering critical thinking and creative skills. This year educates all students around:
- digital identity,
- safe, legal and ethical behaviour,
- copyright and trademark protocols,
- assess AI outputs for accuracy and fairness.
Students who choose a digital technologies elective will have a closer examination of the use of AI through designing and evaluating AI solutions for real-world problems; and expand their critically assessments of AI outputs for accuracy and fairness.
