Year 7 2026 – Our First Days
The first day of Year 7 is the start of a special journey.
For some students, like Elle and Konstantinos – featured in our Year 7 First Days celebration video – their journey continues at the School, having begun ten years ago in ELC 3. Others, like Jobe and Jeevan, are also continuing their Ivanhoe journey, which started on their very first day of Foundation in 2019
For others, their journey here is just beginning. Some students arrive with a special connection to the School through older siblings, or their parents – like Sophie, whose dad is an alumnus and long-term member of staff; and Harriet, whose mum is also a much-loved member of staff.
Others have generational connections dating back many years, like Jimmy, whose great-grandfather was part of the Class of 1942. For Sam, his connection to our School traces back to his great-great grandfather, Sydney, and his uncle and great grandfather who all attended Ivanhoe Grammar. Sydney, served alongside our Founding Principal Reverend Sydney Buckley in the Australian Imperial Force during World War I. On return to Australia, Buckley recommended Sydney’s son attend Ivanhoe Grammar School, and the rest is history.
Whatever the path that has led them here, whether newly formed or generations in the making, we welcome all our Year 7 families to our School community and look forward to the next six years of secondary school together, and beyond.
