Year 1’s visit Melbourne Museum

The Year 1 students of Ivanhoe Grammar School visited the Melbourne Museum on Thursday 26 February. The excursion was planned to deepen understandings of their Inquiry Unit: My Family’s Toy Box.

Students learnt how family life has changed over time as they participated in a lesson called ‘My Grandma’s Toy Box’. They asked questions, played with ‘olden-day’ toys, talked about their grandparents and placed toys on a timeline. Students were incredibly excited to also have hands-on experience in the Children’s Gallery, the Wild Gallery, the Melbourne Story Gallery and the Dinosaur Walk Gallery. Listening to the gasps, giggles, questions and realisations was an absolute delight.

It was a day of incredibly rich learning and we all had heaps of fun along the way!
