Victorian Schools’ Canoe Championships

Over the weekend 45 students participated in the Victorian Schools’ Whitewater Championships and we came home with the major awards.

Taking out the Overall Best Team and Best Boys Team, we are also pleased to announce that after many years of trying we have finally won the Best Girls Team title as well. A great reward for those girls who have paddled for many years and especially to our young Middle School girls in the early years of their paddling. A special note of tribute to our Plenty Kayak Captain Maddi Wilson for her leadership of the girl paddlers and her individual performances on the weekend.

We brought home the following silverware:

Overall Best Team

Highest Boys

Highest Girls

Best Junior Boy – Ben Ross

Best Senior Boy – Lachlan Basset

Best Senior Girl – Maddi Wilson

As well as the titles, there were many stand out performances as you would expect from a team that boasts five Australian Representatives.

Congratulations to all participants and a particular thank you to our kayak staff Jesse Delaney and Peter Hogg for the preparation of our paddlers. We now continue our training as we prepare for the Australian Junior Teams titles at Eildon January.
