Tristan performs well on International stage

After a series of national and international selection races during January, February and March, ensured Tristan was eligible to represent Australia at the World Junior Slalom Championships in Rio de Janeiro, just falling short of a spot in the finals. Tristan was the only male junior paddler to qualify for both K1 (single kayak) and C1 (single canoe) events, a brilliant effort against the experienced European teams.

The Australian team then travelled to Spain on the way home to Australia and paddled in the 2015 Spanish Pirineus Cup, an open age group competition. Overall, Tristan finished an incredible 15th in C1 and 36th in K1 in these Open Age Group races.

The Australian Head Slalom coach has invited Tristan to join the Senior team for some of their European northern summer race campaigns in June and July, travelling to Liptovsky Mikolas and Bratislava in Slovakia, Flattach in Austria and Augsburg in Germany for paddling and race experience.

Tristan’s age means that he still eligible next year to compete at the “Worlds, so 2016 here he comes!
