Join us in congratulating Year 12 student Xara who will be performing her work from 2021 in Top Class Dance 2022, part of the VCE Season of Excellence. Xara has been dancing since she was three years old and so glad that her hard work has paid off. Xara will perform her VCE skills-based solo on Wednesday 16 March at 10am and 2pm at Melbourne Recital Centre.
Top Class is part of the VCE Season of Excellence The Season showcases work produced by outstanding VCE students who completed performing or visual arts, technology, design, or research studies in 2020. Events are presented at Melbourne’s major cultural venues, alongside associated education programs.

How did you feel when you found out you have been accepted into the VCE Season of Excellence 2022?

When I found out that I got accepted into Top Class I was not only surprised but grateful to know that all of my hard work throughout the year had paid off and I proved to myself what I am capable of. After all the hours and patience put into trying to make my solo the best it can be, it is rewarding to perform it among the other high achievers in the state.

How long have you been dancing?

I have been dancing since I was three years old and started out doing ballet. I did ballet for 9 years and contemporary for 3 years. I have also been competing at a championship level for callisthenics since I was six years old. I am now in my 12th year and became a senior this year.

What do you love about dance?

What I love about dance is it gives you a chance to escape and enjoy the moment as well as having the ability to test your limits and find new strengths within movements and skills.

What are your plans for the future once you graduate?

After I graduate, I plan to go to University and hope to pursue a career in marketing or graphic design, however, my mind is still open to other pathways.
