Theatre News

There has been a lot to celebrate in Theatre at Ivanhoe lately. Cameron Elliot from the Class of 2016 has been invited to perform in this year’s Top Class Drama and Theatre Studies program as part of the VCE Season of Excellence 2017. Last year Ivanhoe was represented by two students. This is a very competitive event and the School is proving to produce very talented performers.

Following the auditions held in late January of the highest scoring VCE Theatre Studies students from 2016, 20 were selected to perform their solos as presented in their October Performance exam. This year, 8 of the 13 Monologues from 2016 are represented across a wide range of interpretations, in both the Acting/Directing and Design study areas.

Top Class is a concert series that presents the works of outstanding VCE students from 2016 in Dance, VET Dance, Drama, Theatre Studies, Music Performance, Music Investigation, Music Style and Composition and VET Music. It is part of the VCE Season of Excellence managed by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. The event will be held at the Melbourne Recital Centre, Southbank on Thursday 2 March 2017 (2.00pm) and Friday 3 March 2017 (10.30am)

In further news, gifted alumni Ruby Maishman from the Class of 2015 was offered places in three prestigious drama academies to study acting; NIDA, WAAPA and the VCA. She chose to study Acting at WAAPA. Watch this space for future updates.
