From the high-energy performances to the impeccable execution of comedic timing, this production was a delight from start to finish.

Set in a vibrant Venetian cityscape, the play followed the misadventures of Truffaldino, a crafty, quick-witted servant torn between serving two masters. The talented cast brought each character to life with focus and professionalism, committing to their roles with every line delivered, every gesture and every facial expression.

The collaboration and chemistry between the cast was palpable, working together to create seamless interactions and scene changes along with perfectly timed exchanges that added layers of humour and depth to the story. It was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire ensemble, who clearly poured their hearts into their respective roles. Special mention and ‘congratulations’ must be made to the VCE Theatre Studies classes who helped stage this work.

The production design was a feast for the eyes, transporting the audience to 17th Century Venice with elegance and charm. The beautiful set design was also video mapped by six data projectors to help create multiple locations and some special effects to surprise the audience. While the lavish costumes enhanced the caricatures of Italian aristocracy and further highlighting the humour of the production.

The Servant of Two Masters was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent, dedication, and hard work of the students involved. It left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of witnessing it, and it will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the highlights on Ivanhoe Grammar School’s Performing Arts calendar.
