Teddy Bears Picnic
On Tuesday 27 May, Foundation students participated in a Teddy Bears’ Picnic, bringing their favourite cuddly companions along for a day filled with creativity, connection, and fun.
The event began with Foundation students partnering with their Year 5 buddies for a special creative activity. Sitting together in small groups, the older students gently guided their Foundation friends as they drew pictures of their teddy bears and wrote simple descriptions or short stories to match. The Year 5 buddies helped with spelling, encouraged ideas, and asked thoughtful questions to spark imagination. This activity not only supported the younger students in developing their literacy and artistic skills but also provided the Year 5 students with a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate leadership, empathy, and care.
Foundation students then gathered for lunch and were joined by our Year 12 prefects. The older students shared a meal and read books with the Foundation children. They shared favourite stories and encouraged a love of reading. After sharing lunch, the Foundation students and prefects enjoyed playing games, including tag and hide-and-seek, which filled the space with laughter, movement, and joy.
Special thanks go to Mrs Smith, whose thoughtful planning and organisation made the day a wonderful success. Her efforts ensured that every student felt included and inspired.
The Teddy Bears’ Picnic was a joyful celebration of creativity, friendship, and the special connections that make our school community so vibrant.
