In a mini semi-final against top team Trinity, our soccer boys knew that they needed to bring their A game if they were to secure a place in the finals. Led by captain Spiros Vlahos, the boys held a handy 2 goal lead at the first break, extending this lead in the 2nd half and standing steady in defense to record a well-earned victory.
Our boy footballers also went on a scoring rampage, amassing 20 goals to Mentone’s 9. This was a great team performance and gives us a good chance to still make the finals if we can overcome ACK on the first Saturday of Term 3.
After easily accounting for Mentone, the boys’ hockey team are just one more win away from securing a final’s place. Will Rutley was once again superb and he was well supported by Thomas Brightling (1 goal) and Tom Meadon (4 goals).
It may have been a cold morning in Kilmore but the basketball girls were on fire from the very first minute of play. Some great defense allowed us to get out into space and find some easy transition points. Alana Mierisch and Jacqui Krienke were great with setting the tempo and it was nice to have Liv Wightman join us for her first game as she continually denied ACK any easy shots. All in all, a good finish to term 2.
Our soccer girls easily accounted for Geelong College, winning 5 nil. This was a solid performance by all the girls and gives the team a lot of confidence going into the last 4 games of the season.
Unfortunately, our netball girls fell one goal short in a very tight tussle against ACK, our senior football girls went down by 7 points against a strong Caulfield team and Carey were just too good for our hockey team.
