Showcase Concert – 60 Years of Buckley House
The Anniversary Concert showcased the many and varied talents of the students in Buckley House. Highlights of the concert included the combined Years 2 and 3 String class performing their compositions from memory, the fifteen piece Guitar ensemble and the sensitive performance of the Senior strings. A special moment during the evening was the beautiful performance by the Senior choir which reflected the history of Buckley House in songs.
Other notable groups from the concert included the Percussion ensemble, Flute club, the Year 5 combined Band class and the newly formed String Quartet.
It was a wonderful evening culminating in the final item, a joyful performance of Faithful Ivanhoe performed by all 200 students on stage. This song was specially commissioned for the School’s Centenary Gala, held recently at Hamer Hall, Melbourne. It was lovely to see so many past teachers and students in the audience, among them was Shelley Liu who was the first female to be enrolled in Prep in 1999.
Music is a big part of Buckley House and is reflected in the many and varied ensembles on offer to the students. To find out more about the Buckley House music program, click here
