Round Square Indian Visit from Vidya Devi Jindal School

On Monday 9 November, four Indian students and their teacher, Ms Aradhana Malik, arrived from Hisar, India via Bangkok at Melbourne Airport. After being greeted at the airport by both the host families and Mrs Kathryn Filbey, Middle Years Exchange Coordinator, the students then headed home with their hosts to be introduced to their new family for the next two weeks.

Throughout their time at Ivanhoe, they experienced many classes, from Art and Food Technology to general subjects. They enjoyed developing new friendships and, hopefully, lifelong connections with their new classmates. Many outings after school and on weekends enabled them to explore Melbourne’s culture: visiting markets, the city, Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and the Great Ocean Road. As expected, there was some shopping for souvenirs and presents for fellow students back home.

This was a great opportunity for our Ivanhoe students and families to learn about Indian festivals, food and culture, including how to create Henna drawings. Thank you to the families for offering to host these students for the duration of their stay and Ms Aradhana Malik was very impressed with the families and Ivanhoe Grammar School in general.
