OIGA Centenary Drinks

The Old Ivanhoe Grammarian’s Homecoming Weekend started off in spectacular style when over 230 former staff and students gathered in the relaxed ambience of The Ridge Café, on the Ridgeway Campus to reminisce, reflect and retell!

The night had a distinctive OIGA flavour on many levels including both the entertainment and the beverages! The crowd was firstly entertained by comedian George Dimarelos from the Class of ’04, who put all his “Edinburgh Fringe Festival’ experience to good use in front of an audience of peers, to recall names and incidents from the past, all delivered in a light hearted way.

For those looking for some dance floor action, it was Aaron Rupasinghe from the Class of ’10 who put the dual turntables through their paces and left an enthusiastic, energetic group of young alumni calling for more by the end of the night.

In amongst the photo booth queue and the Centenary Faces collage created by Jessica Harris (Class of ’08), many of the returning students and staff were simply content to chat and sip on the fine wines provided by John Ellis from Hanging Rock Winery, or even the specially crafted Centenary Beer, created exclusively for the weekend by Nick Pang (Class of ’94) from The Temple Brewery.

For a number of the guests, this was to be their only involvement in the special weekend, while for others, the event provided the perfect entrée for what was to be a packed weekend of reconnection. The feedback from the large cross section of ages who attended, was that the beverages were superb, the entertainment was great and the conversations were robust!
