Monash Scholars Program

Two of our Year 10 students, Charlotte Groenewegen and Haleena Nguyen were recently selected for the prestigious Monash Scholars Class of 2018 – 2020.

This advanced program is aimed at high achieving secondary school students to enable them to get an introduction to University whilst also providing opportunities for personal and academic development. Participants will be in the advantageous position of making connections and building networks as well as making the right study choices and potential employment contacts long before they graduate from School and enrol in tertiary education.

This program begins in Year 10 and continues into Year 11 and Year 12 with invitations to events and activities each year.

The Monash Scholars Program is a three-year program run by Monash University for students in year 10. The program provides students with the opportunity to experience university life and provides access to a number of events to help students make the most out of their senior schooling and explore future career aspirations.

The key benefits of the program are enhanced learning, exploring career ambitions, defining personal aspirations and building networks.

Charlotte expressed how pleased she is to have gained a place in the program, “I feel so grateful to be given this opportunity and hope to come away from my three years in the program feeling confident in my future at university and beyond with a network of students, academics and workplace contacts to support me through my schooling.”

Haleena had this to say about the experience so far, “A couple weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to be selected to be part of the Monash Scholars Class of 2018-2020. I applied with the intent to build and expand my social network with other like-minded students and to get a “head start” to university. Above all, I hope to gain valuable workplace and academic skills to help me succeed, not only in high school but also in my future career. I am very excited to be a part of this program and to be able to share this experience with Charlotte as well!”
