Million Word Reading Competition

Year 8 students from The Ridgeway Campus have participated in the annual ‘Million Word Reading competition’ where students work together in their class to read and record every word they read to get a class tally. The Million Word Challenge fostered the students’ competitive sides and got even the most reluctant readers into the spirit of reading in a fun and stimulating way.

Congratulations to Class 8H who are this year’s winners with a total word count of 4,401,633 words read.

All up, students read about 27,000,000 words, which is a huge accomplishment, and their efforts were celebrated at a special morning tea, where the girls were joined by selected avid readers across all the Year 8 classes who had also put it exemplary reading efforts. Well done on such wonderful reading!
