Ivanhoe to take the world stage in kayaking

Ivanhoe paddlers, Tristan Carter and Lachlan Bassett have been selected to the Australian Junior Whitewater team travelling to Europe in June.

Year 12 student Tristan and Year 10 student Lachlan have been honing their kayaking skills for many years. Tristan has now been selected for the second year running and will paddle in both the K1 and C1 events, and this is a significant achievement. Lachlan has been selected in the C1 event, which is a great effort for a Year 10 student.

Both these students have worked incredibly hard to achieve this honour, whilst maintaining an undiminished commitment to their School team. Our School and Kayaking community can celebrate with these young men. We wish them well as they prepare to compete on the world stage at the ICF canoe slalom Junior World Championships in Poland from 13 to 17 July.

The School’s kayaking team is extremely successful, consistently winning competitions and has taken out the Overall Best School at the National Schools Competition for the last eight years in a row. Kayaking is just one of the many sports available in Ivanhoe’s vibrant sports program.
