Ivanhoe Kayakers Compete on the World Stage

As the Ivanhoe Kayak community roles out its 2019 Beginners Program, with a record number of 75 Year 7 cross-campus beginners, it is buoyed by the recent success at the pointy end of the sport.

It has been announced that Year 12 students Brad McLaughlan and Daniel Shamieh have been selected to the Australian Junior Whitewater Team.

First timer Daniel, becomes the 33rd Ivanhoe student selected in this team over a period of 32 years. He will travel with Brad to the 2019 ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Slalom World Championships in Krakow, Poland which runs from 16-21 July 2019 to compete with 300 athletes from around the World.

Congratulations also go to alumni Josh Montalto, Tristan Carter, Kaylen and Lachlan Basset and Madi Wilson for gaining selection to World Championship teams.

A big thank you to all the people have worked hard behind the scenes, Peter Hogg, Jesse Delaney, Neil Holden, coach Waz Draper, our Old Ivanhoe Grammarians and KPSG for their tireless work and dedication to this great sport.
