Happiness Conference

As part of the Year 6 unit, The Pursuit of Happiness, students from Buckley House took part in a Happiness Conference on Tuesday 20 October.

After a swim in the School pool, aimed at highlighting wellbeing through physical activity, students were treated to a number of speakers who gave their perspective on this important aspect of student mental health.
,,
,, Ms Stella Batsanis, Director of Wellbeing at Ivanhoe, spoke to the students about mindfulness, including the importance of meditation and ‘taking time out.’ Tracey Keogh (mother of Jake Erman, ’13) then inspired the students with the story of her recent life journey and positive attitude to life. Tracey was truly an inspiration to listen to and filled the minds and hearts of all of Year 6.
,,
,, Each student was asked to bring in a plate of healthy food to share, and it was wonderful that our speakers were able to stay for lunch. Many engaged Tracey and Stella in their own experiences, and both were amazed by the maturity and open-mindedness of our students.
,,
,, Following lunch, Ms Dara Simkin, a professional mindset coach, addressed the group about accepting failure and developing resilience.

A wonderful day for all students and a fantastic, positive feeling permeated through the group as the day concluded. Congratulations to the students for the positive approach to our day.
