Girls enjoy continued netball success whilst Boys just ‘pipped at the post’

Whilst the Girls’ Firsts Netball team are poised for Premiership success, both the Boys’ Firsts Soccer and Football teams were just ‘pipped at the post’ following their final matches last week.

The Girls’ Netball team fought off a gallant Assumption College, in what was essentially a Grand Final match, to win by just 2 goals. Their final match will be played against Wesley on Saturday 1 August and the aim is to go through the season undefeated.

The Boys’ Soccer lost their Grand Final match against Marcellin College on Friday 24 July. Going into half time with a one goal lead, the boys were quietly confident that they could hold off their opposition. Unfortunately this wasn’t to be, with Marcellin scoring 3 goals in the second half.

In Football, Ivanhoe held 2nd spot on the ladder for almost the entire year, only to be pipped on percentage after the last round of matches, to deny the team a consecutive Grand Final appearance. Disappointing in the end, but with 6 wins and only 2 losses, the boys and coaching staff can be proud of their success rate this season.
