Early Commencement Program

At a time when many schools start winding down for the academic year, Ivanhoe Grammar School’s secondary students are starting their 2017 classes in Term 4 of 2016.

As part of the unique Early Commencement Program (ECP) students receive their 2017 textbooks early and become acquainted with their teachers and classmates. This four week learning program allows students to gain an understanding of the curriculum requirements for 2017 so that when they come back next year they can hit the ground running.

The program has been running for 40 years with students from Years 7 – 11 beginning their 2017 classes in Term 4 of 2016. Year’s 7 – 11 students receive their new textbooks and get to know their new teachers and classmates.

This four week program enables students to get a proper understanding of the curriculum requirements for 2017 so that when they return in the New Year they have an understanding of the expectations and can start work immediately.

This extra time allows students to complete a full new unit and re-energises and refocuses students and teachers as they commence the new academic year.
