Cupcake Day

A group of Year 12 students spent their Sunday baking more than 100 cupcakes to sell to students and staff on Monday 27 July. The group set up outside The Ridge café during recess and lunchtime, much to the delight of the large crowd already gathered as soon as the bell had rung. The funds raised from the cupcake stall will support rural families in Sierra Leone and help them to get back on their feet following the devastating impact of Ebola. Post Ebola, families are struggling to provide the most basic necessities, with farmers and families too fearful to farm during the peak of the outbreak many are struggling to find ways to recover from this setback. OrphFund has launched a new campaign aimed at supporting families in the communities we work in at this critical time. A simple loan in the form of rice seed enables people to farm their land and support their families. OrphFund is a volunteer based organisation assisting abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children around the world. The organisation is a self-sustaining, community project, that provides shelter, nutrition, health care, support, education and training to ensure all children have a happy and bright future. The Ivanhoe students managed to raise a total of $727.15 what a fantastic effort! Thanks to all who came along to support our students.
