Cross Country Season
The Buckley House Cross Country team is in the midst of a dynamic and successful season, showcasing determination and athleticism across various competitions.
The journey commenced towards the start of the term with the House Cross Country Championships at Chelsworth Park, where students from Years 3 to 6 competed with enthusiasm. The top performers from this event advanced to the Ivanhoe District Cross Country Championships, held again at Chelsworth Park. Here, our athletes competed over challenging 2km and 3km courses, with the top 12 finishers in each of the six races (three boys and three girls) qualifying for the Banyule Division Championships.
At the Banyule Division Championships, held at Banyule Flats, eleven Buckley House students showcased their prowess, with five athletes, Harrison, Nathan, Cherise, Daniel M, and Zander finishing in the top 12 of their respective races. This achievement has earned them a spot in the upcoming Northern Metropolitan Championships, scheduled to take place in two weeks at the Kilmore Racing Club. We extend our best wishes to these athletes as they aim to qualify for the State Championships next term.
In addition to these School Sport Victoria (SSV) events, the Buckley House team, alongside runners from Plenty Campus, participated as a combined Ivanhoe team in the AGSV Cross Country Championships held at Trinity Grammar School’s sports fields. The team delivered outstanding performances, achieving numerous personal bests and securing multiple top 10 finishes.
Throughout the term, the team has demonstrated unwavering commitment, training diligently and has represented Buckley House with pride. Their hard work and perseverance are commendable, and we are immensely proud of their accomplishments.
