Coonawarra Willam Aquatic Centre Recognised with 2025 Good Design Award

We were delighted to welcome Peddle Thorp Architects to Ivanhoe Grammar School to present a certificate recognising the 2025 Australian Good Design Award in the Built Environment, Architectural Design category for the Coonawarra Willam Aquatic Centre.

This award is a testament to the strong collaborative vision that shaped the project and reflects our commitment to creating inspiring, future-focused wellbeing and learning environments for our students. As Principal Gerard Foley noted, “This award celebrates a shared vision and a facility our students and staff have truly embraced. We are immensely proud of the Coonawarra Willam Aquatic Centre and grateful to our partners at Peddle Thorp.”

The Coonawarra Willam Aquatic Centre is a vibrant hub of activity, with our staff, students and wider community embracing the space and making it their own. Located at Ivanhoe Grammar School’s Plenty Campus, the Centre offers a wide range of premium amenities, including a 25-metre pool and a dedicated learn-to-swim pool. Purpose-built classrooms and a fully equipped strength and conditioning gymnasium provide spaces for training, learning and personalised development. Outdoors, the soccer and hockey pitches offer impressive versatility, seamlessly converting into netball and tennis courts to support a broad range of sporting programs and events. These facilities also support Ivanhoe Edge, our unique co-curricular extension program, and Ivanhoe Swim, our learn-to-swim program and swimming squad.

We are grateful for the dedication of the entire design and delivery team at Peddle Thorp Architects and for the partnership that brought this exceptional facility to life.
