Buckley House Hosts GATEWAYS Challenge

The first week of Term 4 saw Buckley House hosting the annual G.A.T.E.WAYS Challenge. This team event is designed to extend, develop and stimulate participants in a fun and exciting way. G.A.T.E.WAYS has been running for 24 years providing innovative programs for primary-aged children.

The Challenge is a problem-solving activity whereby students are required to recognise and negotiate obstacles and, as a team, find solutions. The Challenge provides participants with an opportunity for leadership and encourages team members to interact in an efficient and cohesive manner. A huge emphasis is on having fun with learning!

Over the course of the year teams of students from different schools come together to compete in district and regional competitions. The teams are presented with a variety of problems that they must then work through together to solve within a given timeframe.

On Wednesday 10 October the Plenty Campus team came third and the Years 3 and 4 Buckley House teams came first and second which means that the eight students in these teams will now go on to the Final on Thursday 6 December at Kingswood College. On the following day the Years 5 and 6 teams came third.

Well done to all the students involved in the program and to the teams that are competing on Thursday 6 December.
