Boys’ Cricket and Tennis off to a great start

,,

The Boys’ Cricket and Tennis teams got off to a great start to their summer season with wins over Marcellin College. The Tennis team, in particular, had a convincing win: 14 rubbers to 2.

In Cricket, despite a low score to chase, the boys fought hard on a ‘bowler friendly’ wicket to chase down 115 in just under the allotted 50 overs. Year 9 student Jesse King and Year 11 student Daniel Stanford both played well for 34 and 32 respectively, and Jack Bradley’s (Year 11) 18 not out and Sangram Chauhan’s (Year 11) 13 not out proved to be a crucial partnership.

With the ball, the best performers were Year 11 students Daniel Stanford (4 wickets for 14), and Cameron Smith (2 wickets for 18), while Jesse also bowled well on debut to take 1 wicket for 7 off 6 overs!

In Basketball, the boys tried hard against a very strong Marcellin outfit and were overrun in the end by 21 points.

Girls’ Firsts sport commences in early November.
