Ivanhoe Talks Art @ Ivanhoe

On Friday 15 October, as part of The Ridgeway Campus Graduate Art & Design Exhibition, a virtual conversation was held about Art @ Ivanhoe. The panel consisted of our current principal Gerard Foley, national and internationally renowned architect Randal Marsh (Class of 1977), Jett Janetski (Class of 2014), Kerry Kang and Astrid John (Class of 2018) and students from our graduating class of 2021: Kristie Kriaris-Tsotras, Harriet Thorpe, Alice Mayne and Mitchell Sanford. The discussion was lead by Jacinta Patterson, Head of Learning Area for The Arts.

It was a wonderful opportunity for memories to be shared and big ideas discussed. The panel spoke of their thoughts and memories around the past, present, and future of the arts at Ivanhoe Grammar School. The conversation dipped into what is loved and appreciated, art and science, design thinking and using the power of art to make social change. The conversation shows how supported our students are in the arts at Ivanhoe and how strongly our principal, Gerard Foley is committed to celebrating and developing the culture of arts at Ivanhoe. Great plans are in place and we look forward to an exciting future.

The Graduate Art & Design Exhibition showcases the works made in Year 12 Units 3 & 4 Studio Arts, IB Visual Arts, Product Design & Technology and Visual Communication Design. The 2021 exhibition doesn’t disappoint with the many and varied creative talents of our students on display. An incredible amount of work went into this wonderful exhibition and we thank everyone for their adaptability and efforts in putting together such a fantastic art show.

The 2021 Graduate Exhibition Awards including The Randal Marsh Awards, the Acquisition award, The Centenary PDT Award and the Eckersley Art & Design Award will be announced on Friday 22 October.
