Recently students at University Campus were invited by the La Trobe School of Molecular Sciences to participate in an Art Science competition.
The Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology The Biochemist magazine sponsored the event, providing very generous prizes for our students.
Four academics who all had unusual and very interesting careers based on science, spoke to the students and then judged the competition. These were; Dr Drew Barry (Biomedical animator), Dr Erin Pirie (Engagement Officer, Victoria Police Forensic Services Depart, Dr Kate Phillips (Senior Curator, Science Exhibitions, Museums Victoria and Assoc. Professor Mick Foley (Scientist, Microbiologist La Trobe ).
Our first, second and third prize winners were very proud of their entries, as was the University. The judges were so impressed with the standard of the work that they also awarded four honourable mentions. A big congratulations to all the students who entered as well as the prize winners, 1st Prize Alanna, 2nd Sugeesh, 3rd Sienna, and Paddy, Gabriel and Anthony.
