Annual Cadet Ceremonial Parade

8 May 2019

The Fifty Eighth Annual Cadet Ceremonial Parade was held on a beautiful autumn’s day on Tuesday 7 May, marking the end of the cadet year.

This popular event is a highlight of the Cadet Program and is a proud tradition of the School. The Cadet Unit at Ivanhoe dates back to 1923 when a Rifle Club was formed at the School. This continued till just before World War Two. In 1961 the Unit was re-raised as part of the Australia Army Cadet Corps.

Ivanhoe Grammar School has a proud tradition of service with the Australian Army Cadet Corps and after more than half a century of distinguished operation, the school has the largest Cadet Unit in Victoria.

The parade is always a great opportunity for the full breadth of the unit to be on display in all its glory and this year was no exception with many members and friends of the unit in attendance. The Cadet Unit was reviewed by COL John Molnar, Commander, Brigade Headquarters, Australian Army Cadets Victoria.

The Cadet Unit provides opportunities for our students to undertake leadership skills training which complements their academic progress as they develop through the school and into further studies or employment.
