2014 Oceania Championships

Held every two years, the Badminton Oceania Championships has been running since 1997. Joy was a member of the successful Robson Shield team and her singles performance against seasoned opponent, Michele Chan Ky was of note and her ability to take a set off this 27 year-old is commendable. Joy’s progress in the sport has been very pleasing and she continues to outshine her competitors.

,,

Now 15 years-old, Joy has been playing badminton from a very young age and was introduced to the sport by her mother. She currently trains with Badminton Australia as part of their Junior Squad.

,,

She was an integral part of the School’s Firsts Badminton Team that won the Premiership Cup in 2013, displaying skill, determination and honour. Since the introduction of Badminton as an AGSV Premiership sport in 1994, Camberwell Grammar School had won the Premiership cup a total of 13 times so to be a part of the team that finally took the cup out was a great achievement.

,,

This talented player is very committed to her sport and her studies. Not only does she excel in her chosen sport but she also received distinctions in mathematics competitions in 2011 and 2012 and won awards for art and music. The future certainly looks bright for Joy as she looks toward making the Australian Olympic Squad for Rio in 2016.
