Learning with AI in Senior Years

Continuing to support students on their character development journey, within the digital world.

Our philosophy at Ivanhoe Grammar School is to embrace AI as a tool to help our students expand their cognitive skills, not to replace their creative or critical thinking. In Senior Years students are guided in their use of AI to solve problems, reflect on their learning and explore ideas.

Responsible use of AI continues as a key focus in Senior Years. The use of Co-pilot continues as the preferred generative AI platform, which is safely contained within our Microsoft ecosystem and integrates well with their programs. It is designed with strong safety features to protect privacy and keep work secure.

In Senior Years Co-pilot is a structured tool used in brainstorming, exploring the possibilities for refining or editing text, as a revision and study tool, designing imagery or other creative outputs, and as a partner in designing innovative solutions.

The focus is to continue to support our students on their character development journey, within the digital world. This involves learning opportunities for students to:
• critically evaluate, justify and advocated for ethical, safe and sustainable use of AI in discipline-specific and real-world contexts
• synthesise and apply AI knowledge in research and innovation
• critically reflect on digital identity and wellbeing in personal, academic and professional context
• lead peers in responsible AI practice, modelling appropriate behaviour.
