New Global Partnership with Roots Cambodia

We are thrilled to announce a new global partnership with Roots Cambodia, supporting the construction of a new four-classroom school in Rolous Village, near Siem Reap.

Roots Cambodia is an organisation that provides children with access to English and technology education in a safe and nurturing environment. The organisation aims to empower the wider community through sustainable farming, traditional handicrafts and cultural homestays for visitors.

Principal Gerard Foley said, ‘This is not just about building a school; it’s about building lasting connections.’ In 2024, our students began teaching at Roots School as a part of the annual Cambodia Service Trip. In 2025, students on the Cambodia Service Trip had the opportunity to take part in a four-day immersion experience, which included two nights of teaching and two nights staying with local families.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians’ Association (OIGA) and the tireless fundraising efforts of our students, we are delighted to have funded the construction of a new school building, replacing the original single-classroom facility. This donation allowed the construction to be completed ahead of schedule.

We express our gratitude to Sarou and the Roots team for welcoming our students and staff so warmly. This partnership is more than just bricks and mortar — it’s about building meaningful, lasting connections.
Ivanhoe Grammar School looks forward to continuing our work with Roots Cambodia and supporting student learning through service, empathy and global engagement.
