Annual Cadet Camp 2021

The Annual Cadet Camp is an integral part of the cadet year involving cadets from across the School in a week-long experience in the Yackandandah State Forest, Yackandandah.

Almost 16 months after the last Cadet camp, 570 cadets and almost 50 staff travelled to Yackandanda State Forest for the 2021 Annual Camp. This represented the largest number of Ivanhoe Cadets to ever attend a camp and reflects the enthusiasm with which our cadets have approached the return to unit training.

This camp was a significant challenge for cadets in leadership positions, given the absence of any practical training or activities throughout 2020. Cadets who were just beginning to learn their junior leadership roles in December 2019, suddenly found themselves responsible for the planning and conduct of a very large, multi-faceted and complex camp as Senior Leaders. To their credit, they all stepped up to ensure that the Annual Camp was an outstanding success in every way, aided by a week of magnificent weather!

A big thank you must go out to the many staff, both cadet and academic staff, who gave their all to support the cadets. In particular, well done to the 18 Old Ivanhoe Grammarians, all former cadets, who attended the camp, and provided great support, leadership and guidance to the cadets, most notably, those newly promoted into leadership roles.

Well done to all, and we now look forward to a number of exciting upcoming activities; these include ANZAC Services, the Ceremonial Parade, the Formal Cadet Dinner, and Promotion courses.

After a year of unavoidable hiatus, we are once again very busy, and we would not have it any other way!
