Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships

The Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships was held at Mt Buller from Monday 22 August to Sunday 28 August.

Nearly 5000 race entries were run during the week and included students from prep through to Year 12.

The following students were invited to compete at the Australian Interschools, to be held at Perisher. Victorian schools compete against schools from ACT, NSW, SA and QLD in a national competition.

Invitations are offered to the top 15 competitors in each discipline at each division, or if a team (of 2 or 3 students combined times) ranks in the top 6 at State level.

The following students will attend with their parents and compete at Perisher this week between Wednesday to Sunday depending upon the day(s) of their events:

Cross Country Classic boys Div 3 Brodie Baranow Yr 8 – 9th in Victoria.

Alpine boys Div 5 Ryan Feenstra Yr 4 – 8th in Victoria

Skier Cross boys Div 5 Ryan Feenstra Yr 4 – 9th place and 6th Team in Victoria

Moguls boys Div 3 Liam Nichol Yr 8 – 8th in Victoria

Snowboard GS boys Div 1 Sam Nightingale Yr 11 – 6th in Victoria

Snowboard Cross boys Div 1 Sam Nightingale Yr 11 – 6th in Victoria

Snowboard GS boys Div 2 Zac Nightingale Yr 9 – 11th in Victoria

Snowboard Cross boys Div 2 Zac Nightingale Yr 9 – 11th in Victoria

Snowboard GS boys Div 3 Jed Grant Yr 8 – 5th Team in Victoria

Snowboard GS boys Div 3 Jaryd Coen Yr 8 – 5th Team in Victoria

Snowboard GS girls Div 4 Alex Feenstra Yr 6 – 2nd place and 1st team in Victoria

Snowboard GS girls Div 4 Ella Provaznikova Yr 6 – 4th place and 1st team in Victoria

Snowboard Cross girls Div 4 Alex Feenstra Yr 6 – 2nd place and 1st team in Victoria

Other students who qualified but are unable to attend the Nationals due to other commitments were:

Tom Hoogenraad – Yr 12.

This year saw the introduction of the choice of Alpine Giant Slalom, Snowboard Giant Slalom, Boardercross, Skiercross and Moguls and for the first time Ski Slopestyle and Snowboard Slopestyle events for Divisions 1 & 2. As well as the introduction of a Division 6 Alpine event for the youngest participants from prep to grade 2.
