Tour de Ivanhoe

The Tour de Ivanhoe, now in its second year, ran for a week at The Ridgeway Campus. Students and staff enthusiastically got into the spirit to raise money for cancer research.

Students, Tilly and Mila reflect on the race.

From Thursday 9 to Friday 17 of August the Tour de Ivanhoe ran at The Ridgeway Campus encouraging staff and students to get involved and jump on a bike. This initiative has been running for two years and involves exercise bikes being set up in the breezeway for students and teachers to get involved and ride. Participants donated $2 to ride for five minutes, and all the money raised went towards cancer research. In Australia, one in two men and women are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85, so it was amazing that we could raise funds and awareness for this cause.

There was also an element of House competition as every kilometre ridden was allocated to House points. In the end, it was very close between the top two Houses, however, Sherwood narrowly came out on top over Athelstane. Contributions from staff, Year 7s and Year 11s are to be particularly commended, although everyone is congratulated for their participation across the two weeks.

A barbeque was held on the last Friday to celebrate the end of the tour, and the funds from this helped us reach an incredible overall amount of $730!
