Swimming Success

On Wednesday 27 February 26 primary swimmers from Buckley House attended the Ivanhoe District Swimming Championships at the Northcote Swimming Pool.

The team had trained for two mornings a week all year (on top of all the individual squad sessions most of the swimmers do weekly) to prepare for the first of the swimming meets.

There were many personal bests on the day and amazing team spirit was on display. Each and every competitor represented the School with pride with not only their efforts but their sportsmanship as well.

Each of the 10 Ivanhoe District schools could enter two competitors in each event. The first two of the 20 competitors qualified for the Banyule Division Championships. In a great result, 18 of the 26 swimmers successfully went through to the Division Championships.

Successful students will continue on to Northern Regional and possibly State Championships.

At the completion of the event, all points were tallied up for students who came in the top three (and received a ribbon) in an event. On the basis of these points, Buckley House was awarded the ‘Champion Girls School’ trophy on 30 points and also came runners up to Ivanhoe East Primary School, by a single point, 25 points to 26, in the ‘Champion Boys School’ category.

Thanks to Mrs Page-Wood, Miss Redmond and all the parents for their help and support on the day.
