A successful weekend of sport

Last weekend proved very successful for Ivanhoe's sporting teams once again. The football boys had to overcome a 15 point half time deficit, but they did it in style. Led by Will Knight up forward, Bailey Jordan in the ruck and Billy Murphy at ground level, the boys forged ahead in the second half to win convincingly by 59 points.

The soccer boys also had a terrific win with all boys in the squad getting an opportunity to show their wares. Peter Michael and Tom Podarides were two of the standout performers.

In girls’ sport, the netballers continued on their winning streak, outclassing Yarra Valley with a 41 goal victory. With captain Alice Teague-Neeld away at the AIS, it was left to Tiffany Carr and Eloise Whitcroft to keep the scoreboard ticking over. It was also pleasing to see the continued improvement of youngsters, Emily Anderson and Lauren Pentony. Year 7 student, Genna Harvey has been selected to the SSV 12 and Under State Netball Team which is a great achievement.

The soccer girls also played well again, scoring a 4-0 victory. Sophie Cuthbert scored a double and Fede Frew and Shelby Green also hit the back of the net.
