Solar Lights for Vanuatu

Over the past three weeks, students have been busy assembling with great care solar lights and writing friendship letters for children in Vanuatu. Primary students from Plenty Campus and Buckley House participated in a fundraising project called Light Up Vanuatu facilitated by the Independent Primary Heads Association of Australia (IPSHA) and supported by Solar Buddy and School Aid. The fundraising project aimed to raise awareness and funds to address extreme energy poverty in one of our closest Pacific neighbours, Vanuatu.

The School’s Primary Campuses collectively raised $8,274 which went to purchasing 237 Solar Lights for children in Vanuatu living in energy poverty. Solar lights will replace Kerosene lamps which contribute to indoor air pollution which causes four million deaths around the world annually.

We were very proud to assembly the lights with care and write beautiful hand-written letters to the children in Vanuatu which will be sent over to Vanuatu in the coming days.
