G.A.T.E.WAYS
G.A.T.E.WAYS is an independent organisation that provides opportunities for highly able and gifted children to come together and participate in challenging problem solving activities.
Throughout the year teams of students from various schools come together to compete in district and regional competitions. The teams are presented with a variety of problems that they must then work through together to solve within a given timeframe.
The activities challenge the students’ intellectual, creative, logical thinking and social skills as well as help develop their individual talents and strengths.
Points are awarded to teams during as well as at the end of each challenge and the winners were those teams that worked together as a team, were creative, strategic and clever problem-solvers. The top two teams on the day are invited to participate in the next stage of the competition.
This year the Year 4 and Year 6 teams from Buckley House won the challenge in their age category. Frank, Chee, Julian and Jayden, aka the ‘4A+ Team’ and Chris, Erica, Nick and Alice aka the ‘C.A.N.E Chaos’ were very excited about their win and all their hard work prior to the challenge reaping its reward.
The students enjoyed the challenges, competition and mixing with other like-minded children.
