Cadet Ceremonial Parade

On Tuesday 24 May the Annual Ceremonial Parade was held on a magnificent Autumn afternoon, a stark contrast to the very rainy conditions encountered in 2021.

The parade involved all cadets and represented the final occasion for the outgoing Senior Cadets to Command their unit. All performed their roles with skill, discipline and pride, in front of a large audience.

In the absence of the Principal, Gerard Foley, the parade was hosted by the Heads of both The Ridgeway Campus and Plenty Campus, Tom Rickards, and Fiona Devlin.

This particular parade was also quite special, as it was the final occasion on which Major Hans Vanzwol OAM would be responsible for preparing a ceremonial activity. Hans is retiring from the unit, after twenty years of dedicated service to the school. He has left an indelible mark upon the unit, creating many new traditions to be followed in future years.

An inspiring address from the Commanding Officer of the Melbourne University Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Claire Baker, completed a wonderful event.

As the unit continues to emerge from the challenges of the past two years, this group of Year 12 cadets has left a very positive foundation for others to build upon.
