Architecture Commendation for The Round

The Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Chapter Awards has awarded the prestigious Architects, McBride Charles Ryan a commendation for the Senior Years and Science Centre, The Round in the interior Architecture Category.

The Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects announced the award winners on 24 June. There were 197 entries and around 30 per cent were judged to be worthy of an Award or Commendation. Named Awards, Awards and Commendations were presented across 12 categories representing Victoria’s exemplary architecture.

Juries noted that a focus on community was evident in all categories, cleverly showcasing architecture’s ability to contribute to the public realm in a variety of positive and innovative ways.

This ground-breaking building has been designed to signify the importance and focus of the Senior Years as students’ transition to Tertiary education. Since students and staff moved into the building at the start of Term 1 this multi-purpose building has provided students with cutting-edge science facilities, specialised laboratories, break-out rooms and a large internal courtyard which doubles as a space for concerts and presentations.

Colourful and vibrant, the Round has been a wonderful addition to Ivanhoe Grammar School and the School is very pleased that architects, McBride Charles Ryan have been awarded a commendation for the Round in the Interior Architecture category.
