AI and Digital Learning Innovation
At Ivanhoe Grammar School, we are committed to a thoughtful and considered approach to ethical AI in education.
Led by Rachelle Crameri, Director of AI and Digital Learning Innovation, our growing family of teacher-built learning chatbots is designed to help students develop confidence, independence and deeper understanding at every stage of their learning journey.
Rather than providing quick answers, these curriculum-aligned tools guide students through the process of thinking. They prompt reflection, encourage explanation, and support students to try again, building the habits that underpin meaningful learning.
‘Our goal is not to give students the answers, but to help them ask better questions and build confidence in their own thinking,’ said Ms Crameri. “AI should support the learning process, not replace it.’
Students benefit from access to tailored support whenever they need it, whether revising for exams, consolidating concepts, or working through challenging ideas.
• Year 12 students can access subject-specific support at any time, reducing stress and giving them confidence to prepare independently.
• Years 10 and 11 use chatbots to strengthen understanding and prepare for assessments.
• Year 9 students benefit from consistent, curriculum-aligned guidance as they build independence in their learning.
Each chatbot is built by Ivanhoe teachers, aligned to course content, and operates within a secure Microsoft environment with no access to the wider internet.
‘It has specific information for my course, so I don’t have to go and find all these different resources that might not even be relevant,’ Year 11 student Scout.
‘When you’re under time pressure, the night before an exam and you just need one more check over things, but you don’t have time to read over long PowerPoint slides, it’s the most effective way to study,’ Year 11 student Dominic.
Introducing Nova 7
Launching in Semester 2, Nova 7 has been designed to support Year 7 students as they develop strong learning habits from the very beginning of their secondary journey. Like all Ivanhoe chatbots, Nova 7 will provide guidance, ask questions, and encourage students to think, supporting both subject knowledge and study skills in a safe, structured environment.
This work reflects our guiding principle: Smart Tech; Strong Character, ensuring students not only use technology effectively but also develop the skills and judgement to use it well.
