Mr Russell Feben

Role: Head Buckley House
Phone: +61 3 9490 1877

Russell first thought about becoming a primary teacher as a young adult when he was coaching junior basketball. He realised he had an ability to connect with kids, always enjoyed spending time with young children, and found working with them so rewarding. It is a decision he has never regretted. After attaining his degree, Russell worked as a primary school teacher in the public sector for over 18 years, before joining the team at Ivanhoe Grammar School in 1996. At Ivanhoe, Russell has taught Year 5 and 6 classes, undertaken a number of leadership roles including Curriculum Coordinator and Deputy Head of Buckley House, before being appointed as Head of Buckley House in 2012. Russell considers his role a great privilege and responsibility, ‘I love being about to share in the lives of our students and their families, and make a positive difference to them. The children make me laugh, they often astound me in the way they think and what they are capable of. I have learnt never to underestimate them. They make my job enjoyable and different every day.’
