Weekend Sports Report

21 February 2018

Jesse, King of Cricket!! 100 not out!! What a stellar effort. This helped the team have a very solid win on the weekend, against Assumption College, which sets them up beautifully going into the last round against PEGS. The team have really pulled together as the season has gone on and if they are able to make it into the finals, they will be very hard to beat.

Another great weekend in sport, with a few wins and a few losses, nearly all the teams had a great story to tell. Here are some highlights.

The girls 1st Volleyball team is undefeated, last weekend winning against Wesley. With three games to go, it puts them in good stead for the finals and hopefully a first ever premiership. What an amazing season so far girls. The boys had a tough 3-0 loss to Mentone, the top team. They are good but not unbeatable so hopefully they can win the semi against Trinity (who we have already beaten this year) and get another crack at Mentone.

Although the girls Softball team lost to Wesley on the weekend, the enthusiasm and dedication of the team is commendable. We admire the fact that none of the girls have a softball background but we have a few superstar players. Excellent effort girls

Boys basketball was a great team effort against Assumption College. After a bit of a slow start the boys lifted their defense and were able to create some offensive opportunities which allowed them the chance to break away and finish with a strong win.

Touch Rugby unfortunately didn’t bring a win, but fun was had by all. The girls had a great game, defending really well against Haileybury to keep the score to 0-3.
