Art & Design Exhibition

ArtsEdge at Locksley was completely transformed for the Year 7-11 Art and Design Exhibition which officially opened on Wednesday 27 July. It was a feast of colour and innovation with unique student artworks covering every available surface.

The exhibition was officially opened by Ms Alexia Petsinis a past student (alumni 2011) who is currently working in the fashion industry as a freelance creative illustrator, writer, blogger and designer. Alexia shared her career highlights and acknowledged Ivanhoe Grammar School’s role in providing a supporting foundation for where she is today.

This year Caitlin Wagg (Year 10) was the proud recipient of the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians’ Association encouragement award in the visual arts. The award is now in its fifth year and was presented to Caitlin by Mr Peter Swain (class of 1975 and current vice president of the OIGA).

Excellence and special recognition awards were also presented to students from each of the Years 7 to 10 art and design classes.

Shidi (Lilac) Wang (Year 11) – Excellence in the Visual Arts (Elicose) Award

Marina Gonzalvo (Year 11) – Excellence in the Visual Arts Award for VCD

Xinyang (Rayburn) Ma (Year 11) – Special Recognition Award for IB Visual Arts

Tomas Inglese (Year 10) – Special Recognition Award for Art

Jackson McEwen (Year 10) – Excellence in the Visual Arts Award for VCD and PDT

Laura Mayne (Year 9) – Special Recognition Award for VCD

Pippa Pringuer (Year 9) – Excellence in the Visual Arts Award for Art

Monica Veljanovski (Year 8) – Special Recognition Award for PDT

Isabella Mohtaji (Year 8) – Excellence in the Visual Arts Award for Art and VCD

Jayde Ilievski (Year 7) – Special Recognition Award for Art

Benjamin Little (Year 7) – Excellence in the Visual Arts Award for Art

Congratulations to the staff who worked tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the event to ensure that the exhibition was wonderful success.
