Round Square IDEALS Award

Round Square IDEALS Award

‘There is more in you than you think!’

Ivanhoe Grammar School is committed to the development of life skills and principles that will enhance our student’s progression into further study, employment and adult life. Our membership of the Round Square International Network of Schools is a big part of that commitment and our development of the Round Square Award, based on the Round Square pillars of Internationalism, Democracy, Environmental Awareness, Adventure, Leadership and Service, is a further progression.

We aim to give our students hands on experience of living these principles while at the same time giving them tools beyond academic achievement for future success.

"In addition to the significant contribution you will make to the community, and the personal enjoyment you will derive from participating in voluntary work, in my experience activities such as these stand out to prospective future employers because they demonstrate your capacity and willingness to help others." Daniel Proietto, Board of Governors and Partner, Lander and Rogers Lawyers

There are three award levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

All Year 10 students gain the Bronze Round Square Award through their curriculum, co-curricular activities, the Personal Development Program and the Outdoor Education Program.

To attain the Silver Round Square Award, students choose to focus on two Round Square pillars, showing a commitment to each of the areas chosen for a minimum of 30 hours per pillar over a minimum of three months. Activities can be completed individually or as part of a team and must be completed while students are in Years 10 to 12.

To attain the Gold Round Square Award, students choose to focus on three Round Square pillars, showing a commitment to each of the areas chosen for a minimum of 30 hours per pillar for two pillars and 40 hours for the third pillar, over a minimum of three months. As with the Silver Award, activities can be completed individually or as part of a team and must be completed while students are in Years 10 to 12.
